English Language Arts Overview
The Harrison Township School District's literacy program uses curricular resources that support the Science of Reading and New Jersey Student Learning Standards and continue to develop students' background knowledge of topics in science, history, and the arts.
- Heggerty is used in K-2 to build phonological awareness.
- Fundations is used in K-3 to build foundational skills, including, but not limited to: phonics, vocabulary, fluency, high frequency word study, and handwriting.
- Words Their Way is used in Grades 4-6 to strengthen phonics, spelling, and vocabulary skills
- Geodes is used K-2 and Wit and Wisdom is used in Grades 3-6 to build knowledge and develop language comprehension and writing.
