2nd Grade Overview
In grades K–2, mathematics instruction focuses on building number sense, reasoning skills, and confidence with foundational concepts. Using enVision Mathematics, students learn through hands-on experiences, visual models, and meaningful problem solving.
In Second grade, students strengthen their skills and reasoning by:
- Building fluency with addition and subtraction within 10
- Understanding place value to the hundreds
- Solving one- and two-step word problems
- Working with money and measurement
- Identifying and partitioning shapes into equal parts
By the end of grade 2, students have a solid foundation in number sense and problem solving that prepares them for more advanced mathematical thinking.
