Kindergarten Overview

In grades K–2, mathematics instruction focuses on building number sense, reasoning skills, and confidence with foundational concepts. Using enVision Mathematics, students learn through hands-on experiences, visual models, and meaningful problem solving.

In Kindergarten, students begin building a strong foundation in mathematics by:

  • Counting, reading, and writing numbers
     
  • Comparing quantities and understanding more/less
     
  • Exploring addition and subtraction through hands-on activities
     
  • Identifying and describing basic shapes
     
  • Exploring measurement concepts such as length and time

Students are encouraged to:

  • Use visual models and manipulatives to represent their thinking
     
  • Explain how they solved a problem using words, drawings, or numbers
     
  • Make connections between math concepts and everyday situations
     
  • Build persistence and confidence when solving problems
