Kindergarten Overview
In grades K–2, mathematics instruction focuses on building number sense, reasoning skills, and confidence with foundational concepts. Using enVision Mathematics, students learn through hands-on experiences, visual models, and meaningful problem solving.
In Kindergarten, students begin building a strong foundation in mathematics by:
- Counting, reading, and writing numbers
- Comparing quantities and understanding more/less
- Exploring addition and subtraction through hands-on activities
- Identifying and describing basic shapes
- Exploring measurement concepts such as length and time
Students are encouraged to:
- Use visual models and manipulatives to represent their thinking
- Explain how they solved a problem using words, drawings, or numbers
- Make connections between math concepts and everyday situations
- Build persistence and confidence when solving problems
