HTS Food Drive Set to "Pack the Bus"

*Students will be bringing in the food from Feb. 19th until March 1st. The goal is 1000 food items donated. All info about food items for each grade level to bring in, to allow for even distribution, are in the BACKPACK MAIL. All donations will, of course, be accepted.*

Donations to food pantries across the country tend to fall after the holidays. Fortunately, our students are working to fix that problem in a very interesting way. HTS is giving a school-wide effort to fill an entire school bus with food donations. Mrs. Fox, our physical education teacher, is in the driver's seat as she organizes the food drive.

When asked about "Pack the Bus", Mrs. Fox explains, "All the food will be donated to the food pantry of YOUR PLACE AT THE TABLE of YPATT.  It is located at Trinity Methodist Church, Mullica Hill.  The idea is for all the students and families to make a donation so that the pantry will continue to have food throughout the spring and not just during the holidays. The Design Studio teacher, Brianna Miller is starting off with the 3rd-grade students measuring an actual school bus for its length.  Mrs. Moran, Art teacher has made a bulletin board with the information on it about the food drive. The transportation department and Ms. Sue Hanlon will transport all the food to the pantry.  The Physical Education and Health department will have 3rd-grade classes checking the nutritional facts on the cans and boxes and the expiration dates to be sure all is quality cans and boxes." We're proud of our students, staff, and community for helping those in need.
